Every business has a life cycle. Clearly defined times that every business owner can someday kick back and laugh about with peers. It’s par for the course to say starting your own business is scary.
There’s the inevitable dream stage leading to reality mixed with fear. There are going to be hard dawns for almost every new business owner. The hard work eventually leads to success and the realization that, “yeah, life exists outside of my office”.
I’ve yet to reach what is called the delusional stage, but it sounds better than fearing failure. It is at the delusional stage that an owner may feel he’s made it and rest on his laurels. You’re warned not to linger at this step and move towards the crossroads stage, where you can sell and retire.
